| Summary: | To provide human security is a justified and important political aim. There are different means to achieve it, including, ultimately, the State's monopoly on the use of force. From the perspective of peace ethic, only reluctant use of force is acceptable. The use of military force must remain the last resort (ultima ratio), as politics is both legally and morally bound to peace. Furthermore, securitization itself can overburden the effectiveness of both the state and politics. Political ethics, however, demands that not just political considerations, but also economic, scientific and religious ones, and their implicit acceptance, serve as the linchpins of society. No one aspect should dominate, because that would lead to social imbalance. Military action for economic interests would be an encroachment of politics in economic matters that, although conceivable, is prohibited by law and would be morally compromising. As it has always been wrong to further religious beliefs through military instead of spiritual means, it is similarly both legally and morally wrong to further economic interests with military means instead of trusting economic ones to handle conflict.
