Description
Summary:The article describes the main formal characteristics of the Ambrosiaster's Commentary on Paul and explains it in relation to the exegetical theory of the author. The anonymous exegesis is found to be objective, narrative, and historicizing, with certain tendencies towards preaching, paraenesis, and polemic. Many of the characteristics of the commentary can be explained by the presbyter status of the Ambrosiaster, considered probable by many scholars as well as the author himself.
