总结:Bertolt Brecht, one of the most famous German poets of the 20th century, entitled several of his early poems ‚psalms‘. Despite this explicit reference to biblical texts Brecht's poems cannot be subsumed as religious poems. Quite on the contrary they seem to attack the churches, their beliefs along with the ethic values of our society. While this anti-religious aspect of Brecht's psalms often has been emphasized, this proposal concentrates on those elements that establish a relation between the biblical psalms and the poems of Brecht. Therefore the analysis compares the use of language, several related motives as well as the point of view of the lyrical speaker. This leads to an astonishing amount of parallels between biblical psalms and Brecht's poems. Not only do they use a similar metaphorical language but they also speak with the same force and assurance biblical psalms do.
