Description
Summary:In the 16th century, the Protestant Reformation was an effort toward renewal and theological coherency within the Christian Church. Subsequent ecumenical initiatives -with a diversity of interpretations and readings- have made it possible to overcome divisions and anathemas. The importance of the doctrine of justification for the Reformation, and subsequent agreements on basic theological issues, have helped overcome differences and conflicts. A significant example is the Charta Oecumenica (Catholic-ProtestantOrthodox) and the opening of the association toward the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification signed by other Protestant churches.
