Description
Summary:This article discusses how the Christian Church can respond to the current wave of ethnocentrism and how she can avoid ethno-confessionalism. Ethnocentrism is to be distinguished from healthy patriotism. The author points to the biblical concept of ecclesia and argues that the Church is by definition inclusive. He criticises the well-known concepts of homogeneous churches and 'church for others' as inadequate, and points instead to a 'church with others' as a representative of Cod's kingdom, whose aim is the transformation of the whole of life. Finally he argues that the kingdom orientation of the Church has a number of consequences for her development on earth.
