Description
Summary:The present article has as its main objective to publish the first critical edition of Willem Jordaens’ Planctus, written in the final months of 1358 in the monastery of Groenendaal, based on all extant manuscripts. The former edition, from 1885, established by the Bollandist De Leu, was based on only one manuscript. The codex De Leu used brings unfortunately a text with many mistakes. The new edition is based on ms Vienna, ÖNB, SN 12708 (olim Fidei 9364), f. 258ra-261ra, written between 1483-85 by Johan Gielemans, canon regular in the monastery of Rooklooster.
