| Summary: | In this article, the biblical concept of beauty is presented and at the same time challenged by a look at non-biblical conceptions of beauty in the Ancient East. In examining the male body concept in Cant 5:10-16 it is tried to come closer to a gender-fair Anthropology. Body concepts are presented as a mirror of social power dynamics and establishing such power relations at the same time. With this hermeneutics it is shown that Cant 5:10-16 is embedded in a cultural order and part of its reconstruction. |
