| Summary: | Der Aufsatz fragt nach der spezifischen Eigenart der Medizinethik. Ausgangspunkt ist die These, dass sie kein Sonderfall der Ethik, sondern eine Ethik für ein Handeln in besonderen Situationen ist. Dann werden Grundzüge der bis heute einflussreichen antiken Konzeption der Medizin als einer praktischen und technischen Wissenschaft mit ihren normativen Implikationen entfaltet. Aus dieser Sicht ist die Medizin keine angewandte Naturwissenschaft, sondern eine Humanwissenschaft. Die ethische Reflexion ist ein integraler Bestandteil davon. Für das ärztliche Ethos ist die feste Ausrichtung auf das Gut der Gesundheit des Einzelnen maßgeblich. Sie weist der durch Erfahrung geschärften Urteilskraft die Richtung. Allerdings stellt sich die alte Frage nach der Natur des Menschen im Zuge der jüngsten biotechnologischen Entwicklungen heute neu. The article addresses the question of the specific nature of medical ethics. Its starting point is the thesis that it is not an extraordinary form of ethics but an ethics for acting in specific situations. Subsequently, essential features of the still influential ancient concept of medicine as both a practical and a technical science with its normative implications are developed. From this perspective, medicine is not an applied science but part of the humanities. Ethical reflection is an integral part of it. For the medical ethos the firm orientation towards the health of the individual as its final good is decisive. It gives direction to the judgement sharpened by experience. However, the old question about human nature arises in a new way in connection with recent biotechnological developments in a new way. |
