| Summary: | Judges 17,1-5 is a difficult passage in the large unit of chapters 17-18. Discussing the exegetical problems of the passage this article presents the different solutions of exegetes and Bible translators. It is demonstrated that these previous solutions required either changes of the text not supported by other textual witnesses, or suppositions of religious conditions not present neither in the time implied in the text nor in the time when the texts was written. A simple solution is presented by translating the word as “I forgive it”, without any change in the text. This translation solves not only the problem of the storytelling, but restores the religious background of the text. Richter 17,1-5 ist ein problembehafteter Abschnitt der Kapitel 17-18. Im Rahmen der Untersuchung der exegetischen Probleme dieses Abschnittes diskutiert dieser Artikel verschiedene Lösungen der Exegeten und Bibelübersetzer. Es wird veranschaulicht, dass frühere Lösungen entweder Änderungen des Textes, die nicht durch andere Textzeugen unterstützt wurden, erfordern, oder von Hypothesen zu religiösen Rahmenbedingungen ausgehen, die weder zur Entstehungszeit noch zur Zeit der Verschriftung gegeben waren. Eine einfache Lösung ergibt sich, wenn das Wort als “ich vergebe” übersetzt wird, sodass man ohne Textänderung auskommt. Diese Übersetzung löst nicht nur das Problem der Erzählung von Geschichte(n), sondern gibt dem religiösen Hintergrund des Textes den ihm zustehenden Platz. |
