| Summary: | In the comming year of faith we should not only deepen the knowledge of Vatican Council II and the Catechism. Necessary is also a reflection on the foundamental options in the theology of the 20th century. Because in this centenary the church firstly was confrontated with a secular, atheistic and – pluralistic society. For this task a reinterpretation of the theologies of Karl Rahner and Hans Urs von Balthasar will become an eminent impact. Our article is proofing the common ideas as well as the divergence options of this theologians, who were often interpretated as pure antagonists. An important bridge for us between both theologians is a recently republished earlier work of Balthasar: »Die Gottesffage des heutigen Menschen«. Notwithstanding a deep common ground of both »ignatian« theologians we are convinced, that it is necessary for the church to make a non excluding foundamental option for the theology of Karl Rahner concerning pastoral reasons. |
