Summary: | Since the 1960ies Israel has received tremendous support from the United States politically and financially. The fact that Israeli policies serve American interests and that the organized Jewish community in the United States unconditionally supports Israel has contributed to this. This article examines the relations between the organized Jewish community in the United States and the Rabin regime in Israel. As Israeli Jews increasingly dislike the chauvinistic and militaristic views of the organized American Jews the Rabin regime in Israel may try to rely more on its own strength in the future - and less on good relations with the organized American Jews and their influence upon U.S. policies.
