Summary:The author discusses healing, a substantial point of religious activities of the South African Independent/Indigenous Churches (AIC). He presents the results of nearly one year of fieldwork in South Africa (Durban and Witwatersrand area) and compares them with the information of scholarly literature. The author focuses on several details of healing and especially observes, describes and evaluates the role of the Holy Spirit in these processes.
