La fouille a permis d'y mettre au jour d'abord un pressoir à huile avec deux presses différentes, à dater du VIe s. et qui témoigne de réfections de plus en plus médiocres. Une petite église fut ensuite dégagée. Des restaurations ont affecté surtout la nef sud après une reconstruction de l'édifice. La nef est ornée d'une mosaïque du VIe s. endommagée éventuellement par les iconoclastes. L'inscription grecque ne permet pas de résoudre exactement la date de la dédicace du sanctuaire. L'Anastase mentionné devrait être l'évêque d'Éleuthéropolis connu au VIes. ʿAin Fattir in the vicinity of Beit Jimal, is a typical agricultural complex of the Shephela. The excavations showed an oil-press with two different ways of processes, dated from the VIth c. A.D. The installation underwent progressively worse restorations. A small church was discovered with radical transformations especially in the northern aisle. The nave is adorned with mosaic pavement of the VIth c. A.D. damaged by iconoclasm. The Greek dedication inscription does not provide an exact date for the building, but the mentioned bishop Anastasius has to be the one known as bishop of the Eleutheropolis diocese during the VIth c. A.D. |
