Description
Summary:The word prostitution fosters fervent debate in academic and advocacy arenas. The salient questions that mark this discourse are whether prostitution is inherently violent towards women and if legalized and regulated prostitution equates to authentic flourishing for women. To assist the church in developing a deeper understanding and more thoughtful engagement with persons in prostitution, an overview of the two dominant perspectives regarding the prostitution contention is examined and the merits of each perspective are discussed. A discussion regarding the biblical theme of the image of God as a basis for informed clinical practice is examined. Fostering posttraumatic growth (PTG) with survivors of sex trafficking within clinical settings is discussed.
