The article retraces the origins of biblical monotheism, which can be located in the attempts to explain the destruction of Jerusalem and Judah in 587 BCE. From the very beginning biblical monotheism is constructed in very different ways. The biblical redactors also integrated traces of polytheistic worldviews showing hereby the difficulty of a monotheistic discourse. |
