Resumo:The article discusses the binding of Americans in a Christian nation and the Bible-African American identity tension. Topics covered include the civilized Europeans' need to save Africans from themselves, the African American bible's view of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln as the linker of freedom to the condition of black humanity, and its emergence as a vehicle for black people to talk back to America. Also noted is the view that every human being is a testament to others' God complexes.
