Resumo:The article focuses on diabolism and nineteenth-century mormon identity formation with reference to exorcism of Isaac Russell, a leader in the early Latter Day Saint movement. Topics include the reception history and multiple uses of the exorcism of Isaac Russell narrative, a particularly influential supernatural assault tradition/ narrative, and the development of this story as it spread from a few missionaries to others, was published in church periodicals.
