Tra tutte le decretali raccolte nel Liber extra ve n'è una che si riferisce espressamente al discernimento autoritativo super dubio fidei chiaramente riferita alla Sede di Pietro: la decretale Maiores con la quale Innocenzo III accolse la supplica dell'arcivescovo di Arles in forma di un rescriptum fidei, dando cioè una risposta dettagliata alle domande sottopostegli esercitando la sua competenza in materia di fede. Il presente studio presenta la decretale alla luce dei contributi dei decretisti e decretalisti che discutono l'autorità del Romano Pontefice quale giudice supremo in quaestionibus fidei. | ||
