| Summary: | On sait peu qu'à côté de ses ouvrages portant sur le commentaire de la Bible et sur l'histoire, dom Augustin Calmet (1672-1757) étudia de manière approfondie la liturgie, matière qu'il fut d'ailleurs amené à enseigner. Ses recherches dans ce domaine demeurèrent manuscrites, ce qui explique en partie qu'on ne leur ait guère accordé d'attention. À l'instar de dom Jean Mabillon, son maître et mentor, dom Calmet voyagea, afin d'examiner d'anciens manuscrits liturgiques. Cet article se propose d'éclairer cette activité méconnue et de publier plusieurs documents inédits, relatifs à des questions liturgiques. The most unknown and unappreciated part of dom Augustin Calmet (1672-1757)'s work is probably his contribution to liturgical scholarship. Few knows that, besides his many books on biblical exegesis and history, he also taught and wrote on the matter of sacraments, but all this amount of research and reflection remained unpublished. Like his model and mentor dom Jean Mabillon, dom Calmet also travelled in order to examine ancient liturgical manuscripts. This article sheds light on this activity, which is by no means to be neglected, and gives to print hitherto unpublished texts and correspondences. |
