Description
Summary:In this article we assess the relations between the openings of 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. These openings have a similar structure. This similarity is an invitation to examine the agreements and the differences between the two openings. In both introductions, a repetition of the words evokes prophetic language, and in this way important biblical concepts, such as "calling" in 1 Corinthians and "comfort" in 2 Corinthians, are employed. The differences and similarities between the openings of both letters indicate that the letters are part of one communication and that the differences are the consequence of the aim and strategy of the letter writer.
