Description
Summary:Summary This contribution deals with the nature and significance of the sacrament of communion. It discusses the positions of Johannes Calvin and Friedrich Schleiermacher and asks about the distinctive feature of communion as a sacrament. It emphasizes the value of Calvin's description of the sacrament as ”picture“ and ”mirror“ to illustrate the relevance of the sacrament of communion. Understood as a mirror, which visualizes the death and resurrection of Christ, the sacrament of communion enables the individual to reflect his or her own life and connect it with the life of the resurrected Christ.
