The following issues are dealt with: the date and structure of the work, its main sources, namely George of Alexandria and the Appendix to a recension of Theodore of Trimithous' Life of Chrysostom, its divergences from George's text, the identification of some secondary sources, the relationship of the Life to other tenth-century Chrysostomic Lives, the author's views on monastic habit and tonsure, and the relationship of the Life with the same author's Encomium of Chrysostom. |
