Summary: | This article considers the reasons there might be to tackle pupils' “personal” questions in history and science of religion lessons and possible arguments for not doing so. It is based, on the one hand, on several years' practical experience with final year gymnase (academic secondary school) pupils, and, on the other, on references drawn from the sciences of education and the social sciences. It also offers some paths for creating a working environment in which personal questions can be handled in the classroom, without abandoning the paradigms of the human and social sciences. |
