| Summary: | A divisão entre os cristãos é uma realidade dramática. É urgente uma nova concepção identitária que prescinda de uma perspectiva polêmica e apologética, para abraçar uma postura mais fraternal e dialógica. Pensar ecumenicamente, segundo Wolff, requer disposição para entender as razões do outro, para receber críticas e para mudar de opinião caso seja necessário. Convivência, cooperação e diálogo são correlatos de toda ação ecumênica. Geffré propõe algumas condições para o diálogo ecumênico: respeito às diferenças, fidelidade à própria identidade, reconhecimento de certa igualdade entre os interlocutores e busca de pontos em comum sobre os quais se possam estabelecer acordos. Por coerência, os cristãos nunca deveriam renunciar à luta pela justiça, pelos direitos humanos e pela paz, e somente unidos terão chances de persistir nessa empreitada. Segundo Von Sinner, três valores ajudam no empenho ecumênico em busca da paz: confiança, esperança e serviço. A cooperação entre os cristãos no serviço à promoção humana e à busca da paz é o princípio e a culminância do empenho ecumênico. The division among Christians is a dramatic reality. It is urgent a new identity conception that dispenses with a polemical and apologetic perspective, to embrace a more fraternal and dialogical stance. To think ecumenically, according to Wolff, requires a willingness to understand the other’s reasons, to receive criticism, and to change his mind if necessary. Coexistence, cooperation and dialogue are correlates of all ecumenical action. Geffré proposes some conditions for ecumenical dialogue: respect for differences, fidelity to one’s own identity, recognition of a certain equality between the interlocutors and search for common points on which agreements can be made. For consistency, Christians should never renounce the struggle for justice, human rights and peace, and only united will they be able to persist in this endeavor. According to Von Sinner, three values help in the ecumenical commitment to peace: trust, hope and service. Cooperation among Christians in the service of human promotion and the pursuit of peace is the principle and culmination of the ecumenical commitment. |
