Description
Summary:Recent academic forums have questioned the future of biblical theology and the nature of its task. This paper argues that one important task for a robust future in biblical theology will be for scholars of the Christian Scriptures to work across the Christian canon to articulate its essential theological ideas and to engage modern issues with the full span of biblical perspectives. This will require, at least in some institutions, a more deliberate training of scholars with skills necessary for a lifelong pursuit of issues in biblical theology, training up a new generation of scholars who will model for the scholarly guild and the leaders of the Christian church a full embrace of the Christian Scriptures.
