Sumario: | This article explores the relationship between popular culture and practical theology through an analysis of body modification. The first section describes the practice of body modification in its various forms-from tattoos to extreme piercing and implants to ritual dance and suspension. The second section interprets this practice using both a sociological and a psychological lens, while the third section highlights the theological (spiritual) questions embedded in body mod. Finally, the article encourages Christian educators and youth ministers to address the spiritual needs and questions of adolescents related embodiment in their ministerial practice. |
