Zusammenfassung:The paper examines a group of texts from second-millennium bce Egypt, Hatti, and Ugarit that contains motifs relating to the Storm-god’s combat with the Sea. The similarity these accounts exhibit to one another and their divergence from Enūma eliš and related biblical passages suggests that they constitute a variant of this mythologem that circulated in the Fertile Crescent during this period. The primary elements of this version, its origin, and means of transmission are examined through a comparative analysis.
