Description
Summary:The author has devised or selected statistical methods which are well adapted for the purpose of analysing the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament into units and classifying those units. These methods are intended for use in conjunction with the classical methods of investigation of the text rather than in isolation and differ radically from the methods which have hitherto been applied in authorship studies. The present paper offers a non-technical (and to that extent incomplete) exposition of these statistical methods and of the ideas on which they are based, together with a summary of the results so far obtained by their application.
