The Missing Oath: I Samuel 30,15 Reexamined
This paper suggests a literary analysis of I Sam 30,15, in which the narrator left unanswered the question whether David made an oath to the Egyptian lad or not. Using the term ellipsis, I try to locate the differing roles of the author and the readers.

Cet article propose une analyse littéraire de 1 S 30,15 dans laquelle le narrateur a laissé ouverte la question de savoir si David a fait ou pas serment au jeune homme égyptien. En utilisant le concept d’ellipse, j’essaie de situer les différents rôles de l’auteur et des lecteurs. Der Beitrag stellt eine literarische Analyse von I Sam 30,15 vor, nach welcher der Erzähler die Frage unbeantwortet lässt, ob David dem ägyptischen jungen Mann einen Eid schwört oder nicht. Mit der Verwendung des Begriffs Ellipse versucht der Vf. die unterschiedlichen Rollen von Autor und Leser zu fassen. |
