It determines the contexts in which early Christian texts from the second century describe the execution of Jesus believers as »martyrdom« and »sacrifice«, and which contemporary discourses are affirmed or denied by this. It gets clear, how the Christian redefining broadened the ancient understanding of »sacrifice« and made it applicable in new contexts. | ||
