Summary: | Muslim children and teenagers receive their religious instruction in Mosques. In after school or weekend courses they are instructed in cultural and religious subjects. Imams play a key role in the congregations. They lead the praying, take care of pastoral duties and are also in charge of the religious instruction for children and teenagers. However the empirical knowledge about their role and orientation in the congregations is too limited to draw a well-grounded and distinguished picture. This paper is based on a study which could help closing the empirical gap. The intention is to construct typologies of imams and to analyze their influence on the integration process. |
