Summary: | The formation of German Ayurveda from 1980 until today is conceptualized as a process of "reflexive curing" analogue to the "reflexive ritualisation". The homogenisation of the phenomenon "Ayurveda§ mainly in science is followed by popularisation and diversification. The recent diversification phase is examined by webpresentations of important Ayurveda institutes. The virtual hermeneutics reveal a highly uniform semantic cluster of very limited elements in contrast to the otherwise ongoing diversification. By "spiritual" patterns in cosmological and anthropological dimension and the categorisation of Ayurveda as knowledge alternative to medicine, religion, science or world view the attraction of Ayurveda can be explained and a vacuum in the religious field and in the collective imagination of school medicine comes into sight. |
