| Summary: | Liturgical books of the oriental churches transmit not a few prayers of the Testamentum Domini. They echo its lost Greek text and its translation in nearly all languages of the Oriens Christianus. A Georgian translation is represented not only by the ordinale in Codex A-86 (10th/11th century) of the National Centre of Manuscripts, Tibilisi (Georgia) but also by the Prayer on healing oil and water in the Palestinian Codex Sinaiticus ibericus O.12 (10th century), here edited for the first time. A different Georgian redaction of this same prayer, used during a penitential celebration, is found in younger manuscripts and may represent the translation of a Greek model not yet identified. |
