| Summary: | The sociological interpretation of modern religion is centred on problems of identity. On the one hand, religious constructions gain social plausibility, when they can be interpreted as responses to individual questions of identity. On the other hand, the fragmentation of any specific identity undermines the religious intention of self-integration. Die sozialwissenschaftliche Deutung moderner Religion umkreist ein Identitätsproblem. Auf der einen Seite erweisen sich religiöse Vorstellungen und Symbole in dem Maße als "anschlussfähig", als sie sich als Antworten auf Identitätsfragen interpretieren lassen. Auf der anderen Seite wird die Religion, die sich ihrem eigenen Anspruch nach als Gesamtintegral des Personseins versteht, unten den Bedingungen fragmentierter Rollenidentität nun selbst zu einem ihrer bloß partikularen Aufbaumomente. |
