Erst die Verwirklichung der Konzeption des christlichen Staates (u.a. Aufhebung des Edikts von Nantes 1685) führte im letzten Drittel des 17. Jahrhunderts zu einer grundsätzlichen Opposition. Ihr wichtigstes Problem war, ein Äquivalent für die fundierende Funktion der Religion für die Normen der sozialen und politischen Ordnung und deren Verwirklichung zu finden. Conring und Pufendorf, Locke, Bayle und Spinoza entwickelten zur Lösung dieses Problems unterschiedliche Modelle, die vergleichend dargestellt werden. Alle vier Lösungen enthalten für sich genommen Voraussetzungen, die ihre Überzeugungskraft im Entwicklungsprozeß der Moderne verloren. (PVS / AuD) | ||
| 520 | |a This study aims at analysing the fundamental arguments for religious intolerance in the political theories of the Reformation and of the confessional state. It further studies those terms and categories, which were used to bring these theories into line both with the general idea of the autonomy of belief and the pluralism of confessions existing in reality. Only when in the late 17th century politics strictly followed the concept of the "christian state" (e.g. with the repeal of the Edict of Nantes 1685) a fundamental opposition emerged against these theories of intolerance. This opposition had to find a functional equivalent for religion as a fundament for the norms of the social and political order and their realization. Conring and Pufendorf, Locke, Bayle and Spinoza developed different models all aiming at solving this problem. These models are analysed in a comparative manner. Each of their conclusions had theoretical prerequisites, which lost their plausibility during the development of modernity. (PVS / AuD) | ||
