In dieser Untersuchung wird der Versuch einer Bestimmung des Verhältnisses von Epistolographie und Rhetorik anhand der Auslegung des Philemonbriefes unternommen. Hierfür werden moderne kommunikationswissenschaftliche und literaturtheoretische Erkenntnisse ebenso fruchtbar gemacht wie die Ergebnisse papyrologischer Forschung.
