| Summary: | This essay examines the concept of covenantal pluralism, a novel approach, alongside interfaith and multi-faith initiatives, complementing already existing methods and channels of communication between differing faith and belief traditions. Covenantal pluralism emphasizes mutual respect and resilience, rather than inherently power-related tolerance or unconditional, non-value-affirming acceptance. It fosters meaningful engagement among participants that transcends mere acceptance of coexisting in the same environment and also surface-level interactions. By integrating philosophical insights, pluralism studies, and reflections from social and religious studies, this essay posits that a paradigm shift from inter- and multi-faith discourse to covenantal pluralism may revitalize current interfaith initiatives and serve as a path forward for future intercultural and interreligious relations. |
