Hence, it is the task of this paper to contextualize his religious writings through an exploration of their critical method, literary style and Catholic theology. By better understanding these features of Latour's religious writings it is hoped a broader theoretical vocabulary will exist for future scholars of religion to use when engaging with his work. Moreover, the criticism of Latour's texts in this way also brings into focus the manner his religious writings actively participate in the material culture of Christianity. This second claim stems from the engaged disposition which is encouraged via Latour's postcritical tendencies and the role his writings play as non-human actors in the formulation of people's faith commitments.
