Thomas Aquinas, following and commenting on the systematic thought of the teacher Aristotle, proposes two series of principles: some of them, common, and others, specific to each scientific knowledge. Regarding the latter, it clearly appears that these are the real and, if possible, essential definitions of what is the proper and formal object of each science (genus subiecti). But through various texts we find that the respective measurements of such formal or proper objects must also be counted as proper principles of the sciences. | ||

Tomás de Aquino, siguiendo y comentando el pensamiento sistemático del maestro Aristóteles, propone dos series de principios: unos comunes y otros propios de cada saber científico. Con respecto a estos últimos aparece claramente que se trata de las definiciones reales y, a ser posible, esenciales de aquello que es el objeto propio y formal de cada ciencia (genus subiecti). Pero a través de diversos textos encontramos que se han de contar también como principios propios de las ciencias las mediciones o medidas respectivas de tales objetos formales o propios. | ||
