In Argentina, promoted by the "Victoria y Suárez" Foundation, the work of Father Guillermo Furlong Cardiff S.J.: "Birth and Development of Philosophy in the River Plate" (1947), which studies the gravitation of Suarez's legal-political thinking in the emancipation movement of 1810. For this thinker, it was the doctrine of Suarez popular sovereignty - taught by the Jesuits in these lands before their expulsion in 1767 - and not the ideas of the French Enlightenment, which influenced most decisively in the May Revolution. In 1949, at the First National Congress of Philosophy held in Mendoza, Father Enrique Pita S.J. speaks in a plenary session on Suárez in commemoration of its Fourth Centennial. Father Ismael Quiles S.J.-formed in Suarez's philosophy and disciple of Pita-devotes several works to the great scholastic (later compiled in a book), extolling his continuity with the philosophy of St. Thomas, as did his teacher. In the studies of Argentine Philosophical Thought of the last decades - in writers such as Leocata, Scannone, Galli, among others - the teaching of Suárez is re-read as a fundamental link for the understanding of our identity. | ||
| 520 | |a Hacia 1940, con motivo de la proximidad de la celebración del Cuarto Centenario del nacimiento del Doctor Eximio, resurgen los estudios sobre el autor y su influencia en el pensamiento filosófico, tanto en Europa como en América. En Argentina, propiciada por la Fundación “Victoria y Suárez”, se publica la obra del Padre Guillermo Furlong Cardiff S.J. “Nacimiento y Desarrollo de la Filosofía en el Río de la Plata” (1947), que estudia la gravitación del pensamiento jurídicopolítico de Suárez en el movimiento de emancipación de 1810. Para este pensador, fue la doctrina de la soberanía popular suareciana –enseñada por los jesuitas en estas tierras antes de su expulsión en 1767- y no las ideas de la Ilustración francesa, las que influyeron más decisivamente en la Revolución de Mayo. En 1949, en el Primer Congreso Nacional de Filosofía celebrado en Mendoza, el Padre Enrique Pita S.J. diserta en una sesión plenaria sobre Suárez en conmemoración de su Cuarto Centenario. El Padre Ismael Quiles S.J: -formado en la filosofía suareciana y discípulo de Pita- dedica varios trabajos al gran escolástico (posteriormente recopilados en un libro), exaltando su continuidad con la filosofía de Santo Tomás, tal como lo hizo su maestro. En los estudios del Pensamiento Filosófico Argentino de las últimas décadas – en autores como Leocata, Scannone, Galli, entre otros- la enseñanza de Suárez es releída como un eslabón fundamental para la comprensión de nuestra identidad. | ||
