| 520 | |a The aim of this paper is to consider some topics of Thomistic philosophy of action regarding the issue of the electio, which is an elicit act of will that Aquinas develops in S.Th. 1-2.13 and elsewhere in his work. Unlike other interpretations, I will argue that the choice (at least as it was conceived by Thomas Aquinas) cannot be understood unless the voluntary component is emphasized, i.e., that the choice itself is inserted into a practical order specifically conceived as such. In other words, I will argue that human choice cannot be satisfactorily interpreted as the result of a simple expansion of practical reason, for human choices are much more than a simple motion activated by the appetitive practical judgment resulting from the rational deliberation. This paper is divided into four sections: first, by way of introduction, I will present an outline of Thomistic concept of choice and its Aristotelian background; secondly, I will expose two recent interpretations of other scholars about my issue (with whom I disagree on some points); thirdly, I will develop in detail my own interpretation; finally I will make some criticism of the interpretations of the second point and I will draw some conclusions. | ||
| 520 | |a El cometido de este trabajo es considerar algunos tópicos de la filosofía tomista de la acción referidos al tema de la electio, acto elícito de la voluntad desarrollado por Tomás de Aquino en S.Th. 1- 2.13 y en otros lugares de su obra. A diferencia de otras interpretaciones, argumentaré que la elección (al menos tal como fue pensada por Tomás de Aquino) no puede entenderse a menos que se enfatice su “sustancialidad” voluntaria y además se la inserte en un orden práctico concebido específicamente como tal. En otras palabras, creo que el elegir humano no puede ser interpretado satisfactoriamente como el resultado de una simple expansión práctica de la razón, pues las elecciones humanas son mucho más que una moción apetitiva activada por el juicio práctico brotado de la deliberación de la razón. Este trabajo se dividirá en cuatro secciones: en la primera, a modo de introducción, presentaré las líneas básicas del concepto tomista de elección y sus antecedentes aristotélicos; en la segunda expondré dos interpretaciones recientes de otros estudiosos a propósito de mi tema (con las cuales disiento en algunos puntos); en la tercera sección desarrollaré detalladamente mi propia interpretación; y finalmente en la cuarta formularé algunas críticas sobre las interpretaciones expuestas en el segundo punto y sacaré algunas conclusiones. | ||
