No es aventurado situar en 1911 —año en que se publica la obra de B. Croce La filosofía de Giambattista Vico-- el momento inicial en que el pensamiento del napolitano comienza a atraer, con fuerza inusitada, la atención de pensadores y círculos filosóficos. Desde entonces, la atracción del filósofo italiano ha crecido de manera sorprendente. Se han creado instituciones —como el Centro Di Studi Vichiani de Nápones y el Institute for Vico, Study de New York— orientadas básicamente a redescubrir al olvidado pensador de Nápoles. Junto a ello, algunos autores contemporáneos de considerable altura han visto en Vico el comienzo germinal de sus propias posiciones. Karl Otto Apel, por ejemplo, considera a Vico el fundador de la primera filosofía. | ||
