En el caso de la patrística griega, la obra del Areopagita conocerá una recepción inmediata e ininterrumpida a lo largo del tiempo, para llegar a convertirse en piedra angular de la epistemología teológica de la teología ortodoxa contemporánea. En el presente trabajo se aborda la recepción de la doctrina del apofatismo en el contexto de la teología bizantina de la imagen, que se elabora en torno del segundo Concilio de Nicea. En concreto, se planteará el apofatismo como fundamento de la teología de la imagen, a partir del análisis de la obra de Juan Damasceno. La relación entre apofatismo y teología de la imagen se examinará a partir de los paralelos sagrados que el Damasceno incorpora al final de sus discursos en defensa de las imágenes, donde las citas al Areopagita son recurrentes. En el análisis de estas referencias, saldrá a la luz como cuestión central la relación de semejanza (ὁμοίωσις) que existe entre Dios y la creación, y cómo esta relación, en el marco de la revelación cristiana, adopta una nueva perspectiva a la luz de la encarnación de la Palabra. | ||

In the case of Greek patristics, the work of the Areopagite had an immediate and uninterrupted reception over time, becoming a cornerstone of the theological epistemology of contemporary Orthodox theology. This paper addresses the reception of the doctrine of apophaticism in the context of the Byzantine theology of the image that is developed around the Second Council of Nicaea. Specifically, apophaticism is proposed as the basis of the theology of the image. The relationship between apophaticism and theology of the image will be examined based on the sacred parallels that John of Damascus incorporates at the end of his speeches in defense of images, where quotes from the Areopagite are recurrent. In the analysis of these references, the relationship of similarity (ὁμοίωσις) that exists between God and creation will come to light as a central issue, and how this relationship, within the framework of Christian revelation, adopts a new perspective considering the Incarnation of the Word. | ||
