L’écospiritualité est une nébuleuse qui répond à une demande de nos contemporains en ce qui concerne un besoin de reconnexion spirituelle avec une nature parfois déifiée, dans un contexte de crise écologique et de désaffection institutionnelle - besoin que l’on peut synthétiser dans le mot « reliance ». Il s’agira de montrer ici que la question spirituelle est à l’origine du concept d’écologie chez ses créateurs, ce aussi bien en Europe continentale, dans une veine romantique illustrée par Ernst Haeckel (bien que dans un contexte rationaliste et matérialiste), qu’aux États-Unis, chez les transcendantalistes. Dans ces deux approches, le système théologique qui fonde la dimension spirituelle de l’écologie se trouve être le panthéisme d’origine romantique et ésotérique, un système théologique préparé de longue main par la théologie naturelle promue par le protestantisme anglo-saxon à partir du xviie siècle. | ||
| 520 | |a To understand the contemporary phenomenon of ecospirituality (the importance of which is manifested by the increase in publications about it), it is essential to carefully untangle its religious and philosophical sources as well as the different historical contexts of its emergence. Ecospirituality is a nebulous concept that responds to a demand from our contemporaries regarding the need for spiritual reconnection with a sometimes-deified nature, in a context of ecological crisis and institutional disaffection — a need that can be synthesized in the word "interconnection". The aim here is to show that the spiritual question is at the origin of the concept of ecology among its creators: both in continental Europe, in a romantic vein illustrated by Ernst Haeckel (although in a rationalist and materialist context), and in the United States, among the transcendentalists. In these two approaches, the theological system that underlies the spiritual dimension of ecology is the pantheism of romantic and esoteric origin, a theological system long prepared by the natural theology promoted by Anglo-Saxon Protestantism from the 17th century onwards. | ||
