| 520 | |a This article examines the phenomenon of listening from a communicative and humanistic perspective, questioning the widespread use of the term "active listening" and reclaiming listening as a constitutive dimension of human relationality. Through a multidisciplinary approach-integrating contributions from psychology, pedagogy, sociology, and the arts-and supported by a critical literature review on active listening, the study analyses its role in the construction of social identity, cognitive and emotional development, and the quality of interpersonal bonds. It also explores its implications for mental health, care practices, and social support initiatives such as the Telephone of Hope. The findings indicate that listening and silence hold formative and relational value that goes beyond technical skill, emerging as attitudes of presence, recognition, and care. Overall, the article argues for a renewed understanding of listening as a transversal competence and an ethical mode of encounter that sustains dialogue, coexistence, and attention to human vulnerability. | ||
| 520 | |a Este trabajo examina el fenómeno de la escucha desde una perspectiva comunicativa y humanista, cuestionando el uso extendido del término "escucha activa" y recuperando la escucha como dimensión constitutiva de la relación humana. A través de un enfoque multidisciplinar -que integra aportes de la psicología, la pedagogía, la sociología y las artes- y sustentado en una revisión interpretativa de literatura reciente sobre escucha activa, se analiza su papel en la construcción de la identidad social, el desarrollo cognitivo y emocional y la calidad de los vínculos interpersonales. Asimismo, se exploran sus implicaciones en la salud mental, en la labor de acompañamiento y en prácticas sociales como el Teléfono de la Esperanza. Los resultados muestran que la escucha y el silencio poseen un valor formativo y relacional que trasciende lo técnico, configurándose como actitudes de presencia, reconocimiento y cuidado. El artículo propone revalorizar la escucha como competencia transversal y como forma ética de encuentro que sostiene la convivencia, el diálogo y la atención a la vulnerabilidad humana. | ||
