Description
Summary:Jesus through the eyes of a Marxist: In conversation with Milan Machovec. Milan Machovec makes a contribution to our knowledge of Jesus by looking at the evidence about him through a Marxist lens. In his book 'A Marxist looks at Jesus', he attemps to understand, from a positive, yet still Marxist viewpoint, the essence of Jesus' message. He makes a radical, unbridgeable distinction between the Jesus of history and the kerygmatic Christ, between what he calls the 'image of the man Jesus of Nazareth' and the 'dogmatized image of Jesus Christ'. Machovec represents a Marxism that is somehow 'different'. He insists that genuine Marxist atheism is not a counter-dogma, not simply atheism turned upside down, but a matter of critical method.
