Description
Summary:An archaeological study at the Sungai Batu Archaeological Complex (SBAC) was conducted to obtain primary data on the jetty architecture of ancient Kedah, Bujang Valley, Kedah, Malaysia. This was done because previous studies have only recorded the discovery of trade artefacts that support its interpretation as an entrepôt area. To complement previous studies, surveying, mapping, excavation, and artefact analysis were conducted at the SB2D site. The structure is built entirely of brick, is oriented and slopes towards the river, and was built in 6th century BC. It has been suggested that it functioned as a jetty at SBAC.
