| Σύνοψη: | This study examines Feature 200, a colonial-era wooden sailing lighter discovered at Alexandria, Virginia’s Robinson Terminal South site (44AX235). Buried during an 18th-century shoreline expansion project, the vessel reflects Anglo-American shipbuilding practices. Using 3D laser scanning, physical reconstruction, and historical analysis, the research details the hull configuration, framing, and function of the vessel. Comparisons to F.H. Chapman’s Lighter No. 15 suggest it was designed for sheltered water cargo transport, bridging seagoing vessels and shore facilities. The study highlights colonial ship reuse in waterfront development and advocates urban archaeological preservation through documentation and reburial. |
