Se sostiene que una TEJ auténtica debe confrontar desafíos cruciales como la pobreza energética —la falta de acceso a servicios energéticos adecuados y asequibles— y el neoextractivismo, que implica la explotación intensiva de recursos naturales, incluso minerales necesarios para tecnologías renovables, perpetuando injusticias socioambientales. Fundamentada en principios como la dignidad humana, el bien común, la solidaridad y la opción preferencial por los pobres,la TEJ ha de implicar el abandono progresivo y sin demora de los combustibles fósiles, "aminorar la marcha" en la producción y el consumo, la protección de los más vulnerables y la participación de las comunidades. Se ofrecen criterios para lograr una TEJ desde la DSI, que asumen una conversión ecológica integral mediante la educación, la adopción de estilos de vida sostenibles y la desinversión en combustibles fósiles y megaminería. | ||

It is argued that a genuine JET must address crucial challenges, such as energy poverty—the lack of access to adequate and affordable energy services—and neo-extractivism, which involves the intensive exploitation of natural resources, including minerals needed for renewable technologies, thereby perpetuating socio-environmental injustices. Based on principles such as human dignity, the common good, solidarity, and the preferential option for the poor, JET must involve the progressive and immediate abandonment of fossil fuels, slowing down production and consumption, protecting the most vulnerable, and engaging local communities. Concrete criteria are provided to achieve a JET, assuming an integral ecological conversion through education, the adoption of sustainable lifestyles, and divestment from fossil fuels and mining | ||
