Resumo:The phrases הָּרָּעָּב בָּעִיר and בָּעִיר רָּעָּב in the Hebrew Bible are specifically constructed to graphematically replicate a siege. The juxtaposing of the lexeme רָּעָּב with a ב prepositional phrase which has the lexeme עִי ר as its complement is relatively rare in the Hebrew Bible. Its strategic occurrence is restricted to a few texts discussing siege conditions in the Hebrew Bible. The placement of this phrase in siege texts suggests intentionality. The phrase, in each case, is a chiasmus and a case of anagrammatic paronomasia, which visually fortifies the context of besiegement against Samaria and Jerusalem. The anagrammatic paronomasia in these phrases anticipates reversal, which occurs in 2 Kgs 7, has begun in 2 Kgs 25 par. Jer 52, but is frustrated in Ezek 7,15.
